Dr. Kurt M. Krause, D.M.D., is a highly distinguished dentist in Cranford, New Jersey. He started the private and independent practice Krause Dental Care so his patients can experience highly individualized fine aesthetic and essential dentistry for a healthy smile helping them live and feel better. “We have become a trusted dental home with a family tradition of excellence.”

I am amazed by the organization and beauty of healthy natural systems and find the head and neck region especially the oral masticatory system of wonderfully efficient and effective design. In dentistry I directly see the benefits of improved oral health varying from relief of pain to the restoration of pleasant appearing form, color and proper function as very satisfying. My unwavering focus has been to lead my patients to the best in dentistry and aligning that goal with striving for excellence to improve their oral health and smile. Committed to the art and science of dentistry, he attributes his professional values and dedication to practice quality dentistry to his father, Dr. Frank W. Krause, a highly respected orthodontist with his own practice in Cranford for fifty years. Dr. Krause credits his mother, a long-time community volunteer in Cranford, for his strong communication skills.

In preparation for his career, he received his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Allegheny College, PA. Then, he completed his Doctorate in Dental Medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 2002. Subsequently, Dr. Krause concluded a general practice residency at the State University of New York at Buffalo, Kaleida Health. After completing a two-year internship with the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, Departments of Orthodontics, and Periodontal Prosthesis, he began practicing general dentistry in Philadelphia. He maintains professional affiliations with the American Dental Association, New Jersey Dental Association, Union County Dental Association, and is a past member of the Academy of General Dentistry and Sports Dentistry. Dr. Krause regularly advances his professional skills through continuing education seminars, courses and studying scientific literature to assist in providing optimal care.

Based on his dedication to positive outcomes, strong practice ethics and community support Dr. Krause has gotten the attention of independent organizations. He is recognized by America's Top Dentists (2011, 2016, and 2017) Consumers' Research Council of America. The Top 100 Registry included him for his outstanding career achievement and exemplary leadership as one of their choice doctors in New Jersey.

Being a native of Cranford he maintains close ties with his local community. He is a supporter of his local P.A.L. youth sports programs an organization that sparked his interest in fitness. Dr. Krause learned the benefit of healthy living habits and discipline from being a competitive varsity distance runner in both high school (St. Josephs H.S. Metuchen, NJ) and college. He won an Academic All-American Award in College. Professionally, he volunteered for Give Kids a Smile, the A.D.A. National Program of donated dental care, and made numerous oral health presentation’s to schoolchildren for Children’s Dental Health month. He holds yearly Oral Cancer screening events at his office in partnership with the Oral Cancer Foundation and volunteered his time to perform Oral Cancer Screenings for seniors organized by his local County Senior Citizen Council and Chronic Disease Coalition (2010 – 2016).

Passionate about his fitness, Dr. Krause supplements his fitness routines with swimming, cross-training, and hiking or backpacking. A member of the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, he hikes segments of the 2190-mile Appalachian Trail and thus far has completed the entire sections of the trail in Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and West Virginia. Dr. Krause also enjoys fishing in inland and offshore waters.
